The photo here is our handsome dog, Bert, lounging with his new human mom, Christy.
Christy adopted Bert today March 1, 2012. She is a nurse who just moved here from Wisconsin. She was looking for a companion and fell in love with Bert.
She actually took Bert “trying him out” in temporary foster for 3 days, and finalized the adoption today.
She is also going to bring him to Lifeline Dog Rescue for play dates with Ernie and the other dogs.
Her decision must have been easy. While on try out, she bought him a doggy bed, doggy treats, and toys.
What a difference we saw in Bert over the last 3 months. He was saved from death row at a South Florida public shelter, and literally within hours of being put to sleep. He was a stray found walking the streets of Miami, and suffered from fur loss and skin damage due to mite infestation.
Months of veterinary care was not an option at taxpayer expense in a public shelter, and his appearance was not ideal or attractive for being adopted. His time was running out when the urgency was brought to our attention in an online media blitz by dog rescue advocates, so Lifeline Dog Rescue stepped in.
With proper care, medication, and nutrition, Bert made a fast recovery in around 2 months of rehabilitation at Lifeline.
Bert proved himself to be a warm and friendly puppy with an even temperament, got along well with all our dogs, and should be ideal for his new family life.

Thank you very much, Christy, for choosing Bert and giving him the comfort and love he deserves. We wish you both nothing but the best and a long, happy friendship.
